The Nineteenth Century UK Periodicals collection provides a fully-searchable facsimile-based collection of ephemeral published material which offers contemporary insights into British life, politics, art, business and culture in the nineteenth century. The first part of the collection ('Women's, Children's, Humour, and Leisure') highlights themes of literacy, leisure time and social mobility in the 1800s and is drawn from the selected collections of the British Library, National Library of Scotland, National Library of Australia, and National Library of South Africa. The second part ('Empire') offers different perspectives on Britain's position as an imperial power, and brings together publications from the National Library of Scotland, the National Library of Australia and the British Library.
