The Picture Post Historical Archive offers the complete digitised, full-colour archive of the Picture Post from its first issue in 1938 to its last in 1957. Picture Post's groundbreaking approach to photo-journalism saw the magazine offer humorous and light-hearted snapshots of British daily life (publishing "thousands of photos of ordinary people doing ordinary things") to the serious and history-defining moments of domestic and international affairs. More than 38,000 pages and 95,000 articles are available to search and browse, all covering a crucial period of twentieth century history: from the years leading up to World War II to the first decade of the Cold War.
